Bag of Hope
Bag of Hope was born out of a D-Life Group's desire to help the elderly that are in need in the Smiths Station Community. On the third Saturday of each month, a group meets at Philadelphia to offer food and an encouraging word to those who need a helping hand.
Blessing Box
The blessing box at Philadelphia is located at the east parking entrance. The blessing box contains nonperishable food items that are free for anyone in need. These items are replenished by church members as needed.
Hope For The Homeless
Hope for the Homeless is a ministry that seeks to offer the hope of Christ while meeting the practical needs of the homeless in our area. This group meets at Philadelphia quarterly and delivers designated items to those in need.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, "A Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world." Each year, Philadelphia fills shoeboxes with toys and a Gospel tract that is shipped to Samaritan's Purse. From there, the box is shipped around the world to children for Christmas.
Backpacks For Kids
Backpacks for kids are collected each year just before the start of the school year. These backpacks are filled with school supplies and will be delivered to students in the Smiths Station area.
Canned Food Drive
Each year during "Iron Bowl Week" Philadelphia has a friendly competition to collect canned goods for the local food bank. The team, Alabama or Auburn, that collects the most food is declared the winner. While we make this fun, we know that the real winners are those who donate so that others do not have to go without.
